About Derek

Derek is a travel photographer and content creator based in Hong Kong. However, like many Hong Kongers, Derek worked a stable 9-to-6 job as a civil engineer and civil servant until he began questioning what he was truly striving for. He realized that he did not enjoy the rigid and regulated nature of his profession and decided to take a leap of faith. He quit his job, packed his backpack, and embarked on an 88-day journey through Central and South America, as well as Antarctica. It was during this expedition that he discovered his love for travel and photography

Since then, Derek has been fully immersed in his creative pursuits and has amassed a social media following of around 800k across various platforms. His innovative ideas have also attracted the attention of iconic brands such as Hong Kong Tourism Board, Cartier, Chanel, Visa, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and Sony. In 2022, Derek reached a significant milestone when he was among the select few creators invited to participate in Instagram's Creator Week in Bali. His creative journey and exceptional work were acknowledged and attracted press and media attention. For example, Vogue Hong Kong and The Beat Asia interviewed him. He was also invited to be a public speaker, sharing his story of how he transformed his career and his tricks for creating eye-catching reels.

Drawing on his extensive travel experience and having travelled to all 7 continents, Derek has also established a travel agency called "Let's Go to Antarctica," which helps people plan unforgettable trips to this beautiful and remote destination.

For Derek, life is a short and beautiful adventure, and he thinks everyone should make the most of every moment.
